Success in Minco!

They say you can never go home. But on Tuesday, November 8th I did. Breaking that rule lead to a great outcome. We ended up raising around $1300 for the family of SGT Mycal Prince a Minco Police officer who was killed in Afghanistan earlier this year.  Ferguson Buick/GMC of Norman Oklahoma added another $1,000 to the cause bringing it to $2300. Thanks to Deana Walje and all of the Minco Chamber of Commerce who put on a great chili dinner and to all who came out to support Prince’s sweet family. We must continue to take care of them.

One Night with…Me

I’m returning to the stage where I first got to perform, The Minco High School Auditorium, for a night of dinner and comedy. It’s been 10+ years since I’ve been there and I’m excited to do so for such a special cause.  All the proceeds will go to the family of Minco’s SGT Mycal Prince who was tragically killed in Afghanistan a few months ago. We hope to raise funds for his wife and two daughters so we’re asking $5 a person for the dinner and show (Children 4 and under eat free). Please make an effort to come out, if not ...

Lucas Plays Vegas…kind of

I was invited to host Sonic Restaurant’s national convention in Las Vegas recently. It was an honor to be there with names like Jim Sullivan, Bill Fromm and all the hardworking people from SRI. I was a bit surprised we didn’t eat burgers once that week…

Lucas Inspires Youth…

I spoke at Chickasha High School a few days back. They were looking for a key-note speaker for the regional FCCLA meeting.  What goes good with FCCL & A? Me with a banjo, singing about Oprah. Obviously. I had a great time and loved meeting all the students. High schoolers can be a tough audience sometimes, but those kids rock. Thanks FCCLA-

“Welcome” to Minco

Addicted to Winning

In dedication to Charlie Sheen’s return to prime-time, here’s the song I wrote with him. He provided the lyrics, I just added the banjo.

Linda Cavanaugh interviews me about Steve Martin

I met Steve Martin

On August 14th, 2010 I set out on a mission. A mission to meet Steve Martin in 1 year. Coincidently 6 months into my trek, he announced he’d return to Oklahoma on his banjo tour with the Steep Canyon Rangers. This would be the first time he performed here in 35 years. I took note and contacted the wonderful Tulsa Performing Arts Center Trust who allowed me to help advertise his return to the sooner state. I produced a commercial: Then a series of ‘crashing the news’ started on and off for a month: I even got the American Banjo Museum on board: After ...
