2016 Emmys!

My brother and I were surprised to be honored with a 2016 Heartland Emmy for our work on KFOR-TV’s “Look Out, it’s Lucas!” series.   We have had so much fun doing these over the past few years for Linda Cavanaugh’s 4:30pm show and are grateful for the opportunity. I am thankful to get to do what I love for a job and to work alongside my brother, Marcus. ≈This makes 4 Emmys for each of us. Thank you to the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences!

A Banjo Salute to Steve Martin

On May 14th I teamed up with the American Banjo Museum in Oklahoma City to present a show dedicated to the music of Steve Martin and in connection to their current exhibit “The Banjo World of Steve Martin“. Highlighting both his early comedy, and transition in to banjo instrumentals; the 50 minute show ended up being standing room only! Songs included instrumentals like “The Crow,” “Pitkin County Turnaround,”  as well as “Grandmother’s Song” and “King Tut!” In between songs I talked about Steve’s start in entertainment from Disneyland at 10 years old, to the Smothers Brothers, to returning to stage with ...

SMARK Sing-Along!

I was recently approached by Insight Creative Group to write, perform and appear in a web/commercial/music-video/thing to promote “SMARK” dry erase paint! It was a blast to put together from writing with Rusty, Doug and Brandon of ICG, to recording with Erick Alexander to filming with “Mini-Lucas”- Curt Martin (who plays me better than I ever will) and hilariously talented Michael Gibbons. Enjoy the video and look for SMARK at your favorite hardware and home improvement stores!

With Henry Winkler

It was over a decade I first met Henry Winkler. A friend got me V.I.P. behind the scenes of “Hollywood Squares” on it’s last leg. It was then hosted by Tom Bergeron. It was November 15th, 2003 and on a Saturday morning, after late-night of interning on “That ’70s Show” I found myself in awe of La-La Land royalty. Here’s who was on to play a good old game of “Hollywood Squares”: Martin Mull; Ted Danson; Frankie Muniz; French Stewart; Victoria Jackson; Joan Rivers; George Hamilton; Angie Everhart; Jeff Dunham. Quite a lineup. None of those included “The Fonz” ...

A Deering Artist

Brace yourselves: I’m a Deering Artist! I know, I’m shocked as well. But if you look at their website (unless it was hacked) you’ll find me there! For years I get asked, what kind of banjo is best to start on, or best quality or my favorite. I always say Deering. They have been in the banjo business for over 40 years and produce some of the finest banjos played by professionals everywhere. I was fortunate to meet Greg and Janet Deering and they’re daughter Jamie, a few years ago at the American Banjo Museum. After visiting with Jamie and talking to her about ...

Getting Hysterical with Robert Picardo! (UPDATE)

I was given an incredible opportunity November 2015, to return to the stage for Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre‘s “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum!” It featured star of stage and screen- and notably Star Trek: Voyager: Robert Picardo!  He’s ridiculously talented and was hilarious as “Pseudolus.” I played “Hysterium” which isn’t that big of a stretch and got to do some fun stuff with an incredible cast including Jon Haque as “Marcus Lycus” and Tommy Cunningham as “Sennex!” The show was performed at OCCC’s beautiful Visual Arts Performing Center and was directed by the amazing Jonathan Beck Reed!  Reed ...

Back at the Emmys

I am blessed to work doing what I love and getting to work with my brother, Marcus. We won a Heartland Emmy this year for producing the promo “Fly Freedom 43” for KAUT-TV.Marcus is responsible for my crazy antics on Linda Cavanaugh’s show as well. It’s crazy we get to do what we grew up doing. Same game, nicer toys.

Meeting Maria (Sonia Manzano) from Sesame Street!

Last year I was fortunate to interview and shoot a piece with Alan Muroaka from Sesame Street (CLIP HERE). I never thought I’d get ANOTHER chance to work with another S.S. star! Enter CLC: Community Literacy Center. They were bringing Sonia Manzano for their annual fundraiser and called me to help promote and entertain at the gala. It was one of my career highlights as well as getting me involved in educating adults who struggle with reading. On RISE AND SHINE  Sonia Manzano is an incredible talent has a true passion for people. Thank you “Maria” for letting this fan-boy hang with ...
